elcome to the Friends' Central School Website. As a Quaker school with a deep regard for history and tradition, Friends' Central School is also open to new ways of connecting with the School community and prospective families.

The redesign of our Website coincided with the completion of the new 45,000 square foot Fannie Cox Center for Science, Math and Technology. This most recent capital project, adjoining a beautifully landscaped and inviting green at the center of the City Avenue Campus, helped move this old School forward into the 21st century, as does the latest internet technology.

Guided by our philosophy and the Quaker testimonies of peace, equality, simplicity, and truth, the School is at an exceptionally strong point in its long and proud history. As the Board and administration are challenged to navigate an exciting time of growth and curricular development, bright and motivated students are encouraged by a dedicated and dynamic faculty to become thoughtful, analytical, and confident.

We are encouraged by the testimonies of our graduates who return to campus and report that the School prepared them well for the next level of education and for life. This preparation, we are told, goes well beyond the acquisition of knowledge. It extends to the way our graduates think, their enthusiasm for learning and for the values they have developed in our nurturing community.

I hope your visit to our Website will encourage a visit to our campuses so that you can see for yourself that Friends' Central is a place where young people grow confident in their abilities, gain respect for a variety of perspectives, develop strong ethical and moral values, and cultivate warm and lasting friendships.

I look forward to meeting you on campus.

David M. Felsen
The Pennsylvania Association of Private Academic Schools (PAPAS), characterized the School as follows:

“Friends’ Central is the story of continuing professional dedication to children of all grade levels and stages of development. The administration and faculty have sustained a remarkably positive learning environment for a diverse student population that exhibits a wide range of interests and talents… In every nook and corner, from the colorful storytelling tile mosaics to the tender memorial gardens, the ancient trees and the preserved estates, a visitor to Friends’ Central feels the School’s respect for its own past. Campus and facilities alike express anew the centering, patient and persuasive tradition of Quaker education.”
